ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Timbretronics - the electronic personification of longtime musician Mark McEvers, a pianist and keyboard player since childhood. With over twenty years of playing professionally, his decades of cross genre experiences and influences have culminated in this debut album, The Big Picture. Embracing a wide spectrum of electronic influences that range way back to the synthesized rock of ELP and Yes, to Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre and Brian Eno, continuing up to today with artists such as Armin Van Buuren, William Orbit, Moby and Ulrich Schnauss. McEvers created Timbretronics to take the listener on a sonic voyage that is as suited to the dance floor as much as it is suited for the relaxed headphone listening adventure.

Using electronic percussion, bass and layers of sequenced multi-timbral rhythms as a canvas, Timbretronics then embelishes the creation with musical sounds, styles and instrumentation from all cultures, just as a gourmet chef will spice up her creation with exotic tastes from around the globe.

Its all about orchestration, about choosing the right mix of timbres and arranging them with the right pitch and intensity that will transport the listener through an exciting story of sound to stimulate emotion, to elevate your spirit, to make you move, to inspire, to make you smile and leave you happier and feeling more alive than before.

Stay tuned.....more music to come from TIMBRETRONICS.

This will make your world a better place
Genuinely uplifting mellow electronica, with real soul.
A fantastic album to start the day with, this will blow away all bad vibes & leave you smiling all over- Sweet & unobtrusive down-tempo beats over which Mark McEvers weaves his magic- from the first note to the very last, this is class!

A treat for the mind
Great sounding tracks with lots of space for the mind - just how I like it. The solid driving rhythm section with lots of delays is very reminiscent of one of his great influences William Orbit. Elements of Steve Reich too. This is the sort of album you need to put on when you’re around the house and in need of an uplifting soundtrack for the day. (No minors used by the way!) Using a wide vocabulary of timbres, the tracks gently seduce you, whilst being repetitive in their nature (something I really love) they keep taking your attention by their development and their evolving qualities. Great subtlety in arrangement and choice of sounds make it an very enjoyable listen. Something that’s not easy to pull off successfully, but Timbretronics does every time. Overall there’s a great sense of quality to the album, which for me makes it stand out. Well recorded and mixed Timbretronics knows exactly what he’s doing.
