Album Notes

Born on the South Side of Chicago, Tim Casey was home-schooled during the summers with a rigorous course of Motown & the Beatles, and more. Later he studied music in Chicago; AM radio hits at first, and then went on to study at Chicago's Finest School of Rock - WXRT 93 FM. He flourished, immersed in great rock'n roll in all its forms.

Tim moved to Minneapolis in the 1990's and carved a niche for himself as a talented and tasteful guitarist; often using a Rickenbacker 12-string guitar to showcase much of his unique style. His resume quickly grew. In time, he recorded with "famous" local musicians in "famous" local studios, performed on-air in radio stations in Minneapolis and Chicago, performed locally, regionally, and toured to Chicago, Albany, Manhattan, and Amsterdam, blah, blah, blah... Then he started his solo project, The Martyrs.

Tim spent 10 years honing his songwriting chops with the Martyrs before releasing the debut CD, Boom. Tim wrote and produced Boom, which features Kris Brauniger on Hammond organ and vocals, Kent Peterson on bass and vocals, and drums by legendary Robb Burnham (guest appearances by Andy Lindquist on vocals and Tom Cook on drums). Boom was mixed by Ed Ackerson, Kent Peterson, Tim Casey, Kent Militzer, and Brent Sigmeth; mastered by Bruce Templeton at Magneto Mastering.

The Martyrs have been recognized by veterans of the Minneapolis R&R scene as "the Twin Cities best kept secret", "the Twin Cities best band" and "the Twin Cities best songwriter". One reviewer said, "Tim Casey & the Martyrs play all originals, but we hear a collection of references peak through - the Stones, Replacements, John Mellencamp, even the Tubes or a hint of Queen. It's vocals-driven rock, with strong entertaining hooks. The kind of music that's naturally brewed in towns like Minneapolis, Detroit, and Chicago."

Listen to the Martyrs, they're making converts at every show.

"Boom" by Tim Casey & the Martyrs has been spending more time in my CD player than any other CD since I picked it up at their CD release party. Great tunes that you'll find yourself singing all day long.
