We’d like to think of ourselves as the perfect mix of Neil Young, Steve Earle and Fleet Foxes - but you’ll probably hear a lot else too. There’s all the trappings of classic country – the voice, the twang and the whine of the steel guitar, side trips to the Byrds and Glen Campbell style pop along with excursions to a more indie pop sound – but retaining our influences on our sleeves.
We’re first and foremost about the songs. Songs about loneliness, love lost, desperation, and why some people are just no damn good. Songs of hope, of joy and love found. Of relationships and why life is hard but worth it. We want these songs to say something to you, something you’ll treasure and hold onto.
The Time Between started as a studio project bringing together two old friends – one in London and one in LA – to create something special. With a simplicity and style that’s reminiscent of a different time and a desire to create clean, classic soulful music. We’ve worked hard to make something that will stand alone, that will last and will mean something for a long time. We’re not about fashion, we’re not about today. We’re about truth and forever.
The Time Between don’t stand still – You don’t care and Not the real deal come straight from Nashville with Gwyn channeling the George’s (his namesake and Strait) ; I know how I’m going to get home again is pure-McGuinn; And I can dream is Memphis country soul; Everytime I get close is Jimmy Webb inspired countrypolitan. We’re influenced by other bands, by our relationships and by our location and where we’ve been. There’s a sense of time and place in Beckoning and I’m Tired, and of color and light in Taking It Slow.
We bring what we like to a new place, we have a lot to say and it all rolls up into Eyes On A Distant Horizon. We hope you like it.
Amazing things happen in life every now and then, but for now we can treasure; The Time Between......
