Time No Reason emerged from the Akron, Ohio music scene just as Nirvana, Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails were redefining the alternative rock landscape. Keyboardist, vocalists and composer Aaron Pillar and Bassist and EWI player Anthony Sterns provided the creative drive behind the band's material. Drawing on their progressive influences as well as the immerging grunge and alternative sound, Time No Reason achieved their distinctly recognizable sound. With strong reviews from their first release, The Clock Stops Here, front man Stephen Taylor joined the band. Taylor was the well know vocalist from regional late 80's favorite Joy Circuit. His vocals, powerful and dark, are reminiscent of David Bowie, Peter Murphy, and Ultravox's Midge Ure.
A favorite in the local club scene, Time No Reason began recording a second release but several personnel changes slowed the process down. A previous performance with Knoxville-based Church of Logic resulted in close contact between the two bands. When the nearly simultaneous split-up of both bands occurred, the availability of drummer Bill Gans and Guitarists Eric Bassett set the stage for a new line-up.
Teaming with producer Ben Schigel (later of the Switch), the band buckled down at Spider Studios to produce a new album. The result was 10 hard-hitting tracks with an edgy sound that Cleveland Scene's Lee Barrish observed was "heavily rooted in artistry. It's a strong disc-quite impressive." Two tracks received heavy airplay nationally with "Tension" being listed in the regional CMJ top 10-list and "Perceptions" making the BMI survey.
A distinctly different sound from the Live/Third Eye Blind/Matchbox 20 pop alternative sound that band would produce with singer Christopher O'Connell, Watch and Listen stands as a unique creative achievement with a distinct and complex sound.
