Album Notes

AUTO BIO: It's a long story, more fit for a novel than a paragraph. The short of it is that I've been writing songs since the day I received my first guitar. I was always fascinated with music, always wanted to be one of those people who could play music. Since the moment I got my first guitar I couldn't put it down. It was May of 1995, the month I graduated from high school. I wrote constantly. I spent most of my life at that point in the basement. I would record into this old RCA boom box through its built-in microphone. I must have fifty cassette tapes in a box in the garage. From there, I moved to the four track. My recordings improved with the quality of my songs. I can't tell you how many songs I've written to date. I'd like to know. I'd guess it's somewhere around 200. In 2004, I began tracking my first real studio record. I'd tried and failed to make it happen for years. The whole thing fell together nicely with the right people around. The record, Boomerang, was released in December 2005. For the first time, I was getting airplay in states other than my own. Soon, the record had been featured on a slew of television shows: The Ghost Whisperer, Army Wives, Joan of Arcadia, Whistler, Lincoln Heights, and Harper's Island. I started work on my follow up record, Time for Change, in the fall of 2007. I'd wake early each morning and sit immediately at the kitchen table to write. The horn and string orchestrations came with the lyrical melodies. Tracking Time for Change occurred at The Blasting Room in December 2007 and was completed in December 2008. I did odd jobs at the studio to help lower my recording costs. I recorded much on my own during off hours and through the night. I remember the final night of recalls as a delirious blur of Daz Bog KGB Blend and bathroom breaks. I had been recalling tracks by myself for 20 continuous overnight hours. Eventually, you just have to let go. Time for Change dropped digitally on January 12, 2009.

I love the song writing and the orchestration. You don't hear this sort of production much these days. So beautiful and honest.
