Older & Wiser?

by Tim Kelley

Pain, life and introspection played out through delicately orchestrated music that dances between musical genres. Tim Kelley's acoustic folk jazz sound is flooded with vocal harmonies peppered with hints of Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver and more..

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Harmonies abound, transitions shift, and genres blend in Tim Kelley's music. Here you may find Brian Wilson melodies chased by Simon & Garfunkel harmonies wrapped in Harry Connick Jr. tonalities. Behind the notes you’ll find the idealism that music can save your soul; that every experience is worth keeping, however painful, that redemption lies just somewhere around the corner, that age is a four letter word and fear is not worth the letters that make it up. In his music you’ll not hear an outcry against pain and loss, but the quiet and subdued decimation of it through art, the recognition and release. Life goes on, music moves further.

Older and Wiser
This CD is truly kick ass...a masterful work of art! The musicianship and musicality are second to none, the vocals are utterly sublime and lyrics are honest and relatable. This CD kept me company on a recent road trip up to North Carolina. Now, it stays in the CD changer. Great work, good peeps, highly recommended!

Soothing!
Very smooth. Nice relaxing sounds. "Fall's Fallen" reminds me of "Blue Winds" by 'Tunesmith's Apprentice' I'll be buying this one!

This is the kind of album that sneaks up on you, then surprises you with its overwhelming beauty. The opening track, "New Beginning" features backwards guitar, some gentle piano and a few wistful lyrics. The album sinks in a little more with some jazz inflected acoustic guitar chords which seem to circle around and never quite resolve, while layers of rich vocal harmonies build on each other. "Last Call" sounds like a Beach Boys style lullaby, complete with chamber strings and eerie background vocals. The rest of the album builds on the same elements: unexpected acoustic guitar changes backed by spine-tingling harmonies from both Tim Kelley and the multi-talented Peggy Killian, evoking moments of Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Elliott Smith, and even the jazz era of Joni Mitchell. Lush, lovely, and filled with interesting elements from both folk and jazz, "Older & Wiser?" will be good company this spring and beyond.

Very smooth and soothing. "Fall's Fallen" reminds me of "Blue Winds (a psalm)" by Tunesmith's Apprentice

A New Experience...
A different sound... a sound that will take you away from today's troubles and times. EVERY tune on this album will fly you away from the real world and any worries you may have.
Yes, use it to escape and delve into your outer world. The harmonies of voices and instruments will place you in another world of relaxation and peace.
A much needed album to have and add to your collection!
Turn the lights out, spin the CD and let the mezmorizing harmonys take you away.
There is a place in this world for this music.
Outstanding!

As the others say...
A beautiful cd; rich and strong, with great melodies, superb harmonies, and haunting lyrics. But, in the words of LeVar Burton, "Don't take my word for it." Listen to it, buy it, love it. This is a superior release. I have absolute faith in its ability to sway you to swoon.
