I've got a problem with most stand-up comedians. Most of them (and by "them" I mean hacks) get on stage, and proceed to complain about their miserable lives, how they can't get a date or why everybody hates them, and then badger the audience for not being smart enough to think this is funny.
Not the case with Tim McIntire.
Tim is outright funny. Tim is smart, but not pompous; dirty, but not disgusting; foul, but not unjustly so. Most importantly, Tim is not that Nazi in the glasses from "Radiers."
Tim's comedy is both sublime and ridiculous. His subjects range from what it would be like hanging out with Rumsfeld over beers to ordering his son the "Happy Ending" at Friendly's. I can't define pornography, but I know comedy when I see it. Tim is comedy...with a discreet, legal porn collection he probably keeps safely tucked away from his wife and two upstanding children.
Tim McIntire is a blue state. Or maybe he's a purple state. But since it's illegal to give our taxes to him, we should do the next best thing and buy his CD.
Tim McIntire is your tax dollars working for you.

A study in the life of a comedian
author: P.J.Brown
I myself am a new comic, and I've been buying more comedy albums lately to laugh and to learn about this new endeavor of mine. Tim McIntire's Scatterbrain showcased the good and the bad stuff, the good being tracks 1-11, where Tim muses on having kids(but in a tastefully non-mediocre way, especially with his profanity laced reaction to the birth!)family crises and Taco Bell, and self-satisfaction of the onanistic variety among other topics mined for laughs. The bad, in a very fascinating way, would be track 12, dubbed Nagasaki, where Tim McIntire plays a gig in Tyngsboro where very few laughs are generated, and not because Tim bombed; I liked the jokes he came out with on that cut. It's the ignorant dinner party snobs too interested in their food to have an attention span that ruined that gig. Every comedian, professional or amateur, should buy this album, especially for the Nagasaki track. It serves as a sobering reminder that one of these days, we'll be playing a place in Tyngsboro, or someplace just like Tyngsboro. Good laughs and hard reality in one package.

Great Instruction for Comedians (Who Have Only Had It Good)
author: Brian Gordon
I listened to Tim McIntire's disc this weekend (twice) and each time I found myself savoring equally the seamlessness in both sets he provided. Real education is afoot here.
I get the sense that deep down comedy has never really been about the paycheck for him. This is a performer who is really living the dream (and the nightmare, too). Enjoy.
