Timothy Hill’s second album, The Human Place, features ten original songs. In addition to Hill's vocals and acoustic guitar, it features the guitar work of fellow singer-songwriter Larry John McNally, whose own songs have been recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Don Henley, and many others; the cello of Michelle Kinney, for many years a key component in the sound of Susan McKeown's Chanting House; bassist Doug Weiss, an habitué of New York's jazz scene who appears frequently with Brian Blade, Al Foster and others; drummer George Javori, who has recorded with Katell Keineg and Joan Baez. It also features the saxophone of guest artist Steve Gorn, who has recorded with master percussionist Jack DeJohnette and is a featured player on Paul Simon's album "You're The One". The album was recorded in two days, using vintage equipment in an old warehouse in Brooklyn. The players were all assembled in one room. A loose, improvisational feel was sought after, akin to classic records such as Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks or Tim Buckley’s Blue Afternoon. The result is unlike anything else you've heard.
