Album Notes

Tina has been performing live for about 20 years now. Everything from intimate gatherings doing lounge style with her Trio, to 3000 in attendance at the outdoor Fireworks display put on every year by the City of Stratford. She confidently performs all styles of music, with the most praise coming from her Fleetwood Mac, and Amanda Marshall covers. Coming in a close second are a few country tunes by artists such as Faith Hill and Shania Twain.

Tina’s singing career began in church, as does many a performer. However it wasn’t long before she was performing on her own. Tina performed by herself for a year or so at the Oasis Lounge in the Waterloo Inn. Other spots on the list include The Challenger restaurant in Breslau, and The Charcoal Steakhouse in Kitchener.

During a performance at The Charcoal Steakhouse, Tina was approached by the well know Juno award winning Lloyd Mercey, and asked if she would be interested in joining his band. The answer was a resounding “Yes” and Tina McEwin (Newman at the time) became a member of the band Mercey. This was a hard driving band doing songs from Tom Petty, and CCR, with Tina's contribution including Allana Myles’s “Black Velvet”, The Stones’ “Jump’n Jack Flash” as well as a standard in the rock and roll world “Tush” by Lynard Skynard.

As an alternative experience she formed a trio including the Guitar player Eric Mahar and the Keyboardist Mike Weichel, both members of the band Mercey.
Those engagements included being regular performers at an exclusive golf club, The Westmount Golf & Country Club in Waterloo, and The Black Forest Inn in Conestogo.

Tina participated in some singing contests and group performances co-ordinated by Entertainer/Producer Lionel Vachon. The Lionel Vachon Singers performed at various events throughout Kitchener, and broadcast two shows on Roger’s Cable called “Sing Thing”. One show featured Tina exclusively along with another singer.
Other credits include second place in the Duet category of the Simcoe Country Singing contest. The first year she participated in the women’s singles competition and placed 13th out of 350 contestants from all over Canada. During a contest in Furgus Ontario sponsored by the radio station CFCA, Tina performed live with the band Code of the West.

Other collaborations include Larry Mercy, who contributed some content to one of Tina’s songs. Together they recorded it as a country ballad titled “Trust in Me”
Tina also submitted demo to the people at “Be a Star” in Nashville, and was invited down for an audition. Subsequently, she was asked to be a contestant on the show, and placed an impressive second overall, loosing by only one point!
At this performance she sang an original selection called “Do’n My Thing”

Realizing a long time goal, she wrote and recorded 10 songs of her own, receiving approval from the organization FACTOR for some grant money for the endeavor. On the list of other studio recordings, a Christmas collection titled “It’s Christmas” recorded at Wax Works Recording Studio in St. Jacobs, and a country assortment of cover tunes called “Living in the Country”. It was recorded at The Walter’s Family Studios in Drumbo Ontario.

Currently, Tina thrives on her regular performances with her band Hwy 19, local favorites to her town of Stratford Ontario. As the lead singer she performs up to 40 songs a night with out missing a beat! (Lets see some of those prissy studio celebs do that!) Selections are from old R&R, Blues, Pop and New Country.
Her band has been featured on Breakfast Television in Toronto three times and their popularity keeps crowds coming back for more wherever they play.

A seasoned professional, Tina McEwin would be a definite asset to your list of performers.
Performing all styles professionally and skillfully, she will deliver the sound you are after.
