Wendy McDowell is a progressive acoustic rock performer.
She has been singing in and around Florida since 1989 and enjoys a loyal following.
Her powerful vocals and insightful lyrics have won her a position in the New Works Showcase Cutting Edge Compilation CD, and opening dates with national acts Sister Hazel, Kristen Hall, Nil Lara, For Squirrels and disappear fear.
Her band, Tin Angel has won a position in the Alachua Music Harvest for several years running, appearing with artists such as Joan Osborne, Widespread Panic, They Might Be Giants and George Clinton & the P-Funk Allstars. She has also played venues throughout the Southeast, including Asheville, Knoxville, Greenville, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Delaware and Virginia.
The eagerly anticipated debut release from Wendy McDowell & Tin Angel is filled with lyrical visions of the south - toe-tapping rock numbers reminiscent of early Eagles, and just a touch of the dark and groovy.
There's plenty of harmony and jangling guitars - driving drums and smooth bass leads.
The CD was recorded in a dizzying four days, masterfully engineered by Jim Devito at Last Resort Records in St.Augustine.
Producer Jeff Sims, who has spent most of his life in the music business, also brought Stan Lynch to the project. Stan, who has strong ties to Gainesville, (two decades as the drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) was impressed by the music and more than happy to offer his experience and talent as co-producer.
