Album Notes
Wendy McDowell is a progressive acoustic rock performer.

She has been singing in and around Florida since 1989 and enjoys a loyal following.

Her powerful vocals and insightful lyrics have won her a position in the New Works Showcase Cutting Edge Compilation CD, and opening dates with national acts Sister Hazel, Kristen Hall, Nil Lara, For Squirrels and disappear fear.

Her band, Tin Angel has won a position in the Alachua Music Harvest for several years running, appearing with artists such as Joan Osborne, Widespread Panic, They Might Be Giants and George Clinton & the P-Funk Allstars. She has also played venues throughout the Southeast, including Asheville, Knoxville, Greenville, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Delaware and Virginia.

The eagerly anticipated debut release from Wendy McDowell & Tin Angel is filled with lyrical visions of the south - toe-tapping rock numbers reminiscent of early Eagles, and just a touch of the dark and groovy.

There's plenty of harmony and jangling guitars - driving drums and smooth bass leads.

The CD was recorded in a dizzying four days, masterfully engineered by Jim Devito at Last Resort Records in St.Augustine.
Producer Jeff Sims, who has spent most of his life in the music business, also brought Stan Lynch to the project. Stan, who has strong ties to Gainesville, (two decades as the drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) was impressed by the music and more than happy to offer his experience and talent as co-producer.

Bill Deyoung - Gainesville Sun

"highly confessional with emphasis on the rock and roll big beat"
"...Wendy Mcdowell's music is passionate and literary...with emphasis on the rock & roll big beat..her low alto singing voice brings out the pain and furtiveness of the lyrics...Tin Angel effectively combines folk, rock and lyrical passion..."

Clips Magazine

A Heineken on the Beer Scale!
"...hometown sound and a pop sensibility that's above average...rated a Heineken on the beer scale..."

Neil Longer, Sleepless In Gainesville

sincere, passionate - Tin Angel CD is worth having
...high energy, sincere, passionate...Tin Angel is worth seeing and the CD is worth having!

Colin Whitworth, Moon Magazine

gifted with the ability to tell tales without being trite
forceful, soulful...McDowell is an excellent songwriter, gifted with the ability to tell tales without being trite. Secret Garden and I'm Not Your Enemy are great songs...Gainesville is sure producing some incredible bands lately...

Ink 19

Golden Honey Voice and Sparkly Jangly Guitar...magical
...rarely does a golden honey voice combine with a sparkly jangly guitar in such a magical way...

Elizabeth White

"refreshing acoustic rock sound"
Picture this, Jefferson Airplane and the Eagles get their gigs mixed up and Don Henley and Grace Slick end up at the same place and decide to make the best of it. And it sounds great! That's what I thought as I listened to this debut cd from Tin Angel. They have a sound that, to this reviewer anyway, is a lesson in combining 60's rock with 70's southern rock to make a refreshing acoustic rock sound for today.
Hit Picks: "One Red Tree" and "301"

Janet McCrary-Roller

Passionate, full of emotion
Every song on this CD is full of so much emotion, you can feel it. Wendy's voice is warm, raspy, sensual...You know she sings from the heart.

Eddie Russell / Country Eastern / Outlaw For Peace Radio

Buy it, & fly it thru your ears...I dare ya!
"Surrounded by a wailing wall of Tin Angel rock n roll glory, the strong talented voice of Wendy McDowell can not be denied.
Within these nine original songs of hers, she has something to say, a sway of life's radar. Zooming in from the fear, to the frolic, with that driving Tin Angel beat, the perfect compliment.
This is no clone on the range.......this is Wendy's World from the first note to the last. Buy it, & fly it thru your ears...I dare ya!
