THE TINKU BAND www.tinku.com.au The Tinku Band is a five-piece Sydney rock group with crazy sitars and a real Indian feel! Combining heartfelt melodies and the sensual rhythms with tasty contemporary rock, The Tinku Band creates a fusion of Eastern and Australian sensations. The band's debut EP Superman has been described as sounding like 'An Indian version of The John Butler Trio' or 'Led Zeppelin after a stint in an Ashram'. The Tinku Band colours its rock underbelly with classical Indian instruments such as Tablas, Sitar and Sarode. The Tinku Band has been gigging the inner Sydney circuit for the last eighteen months - The Cat & Fiddle, The Bridge, The Excelsior in Surry Hills, Vic On The Park etc. plus The Newtown Festival. Recently completing an East Coast/Regional NSW tour supported by regular airplay on Fbi, 2SER and JJJ, the band is heading up the NSW coast again early in 2006. Defining a new genre in music, the band has received strong critical acclaim. As their following continues to grow, the band knows it has the ingredients for international success.
