Album Notes

Tin Penny formed in December 2005 when Larry Welton and Beth Wissert got together to entertain a group of radical lefties fomenting discontent in Manchester, VT. Playing a mix of traditional blues, folk, and original music, Tin Penny strives for a balance of familiar tunes with fresh harmonies and original songs composed by Larry and Beth.

Larry, born in NYC and raised in Vermont, has played guitar, autoharp, and various other musical entities for over 30 years. Larry, living in Brandon, VT until 2007, is the author of "Tannery Rag" and "Jersey Shore" and has been known to tweak an arrangement or two.

Beth, born and raised in Connecticut, has been playing guitar and writing songs since the Vietnam War era, when she composed her first tune, "Let's Get Together and Have a War" at the age of twelve. Beth, author of "Elysian's Song" and "It'll Have to Do," has resided in Manchester, VT for the last couple decades, where social consciousness is alive and well and living in the cracks in the sidewalks between the outlet stores.

Beth and Larry were married on June 17th of 2007, thereby melding their musical pursuits and personal lives together, for better or worse, as they say. They now live together in Manchester, playing about in the backwaters of the Green Mountains.

This is their first CD.
