WHO IS TIO ALECC?
Mr. Seth Sherwood-Flores, a native New Englander from Massachusetts has lived in Southern California for the past 16 years. He teaches English at Santa Ana High School and is very active in promoting bilingual education. Seth's bicultural upbringing in Guatemala, his fluency in Spanish, and his commitment to helping children learn to read and write, have motivated him to create Tio Alecc and Mimi the reading gorilla. His goal is to inspire young children to read, persevere, and most of all believe in themselves.
Seth is a certificated teacher, receiving his teaching credentials from CA State Long Beach. He also holds an MBA and a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Chile and Honduras. He lives in Ladera Ranch with his wife Delia, son Franklin and daughter Melinda.
The song "Libros" track #4, won first place on the Spanish variety television program "Cuanto Cuesta el Show" in September, 2002.
