TIPPI - THE STORY SO FAR:
Tippi was born and brought up on the outskirts of Glasgow, Scotland. Taking up music in her early teens, she quickly learned to play guitar and drums. After leaving school, she studied at Strathclyde University, graduating with an Honours degree in Applied Music.
Tippi cites Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, The Cure, AC/DC, Radiohead and Paul Weller as influences - Tippi was recently invited to perform as Weller's special guest on tour, duetting with him during his encores each night.
Tippi kicked off her career by releasing two singles on her own label, both of which sold out of their original pressings, entering the Scottish Top 20 charts along the way - the latter actually entered the official U.K. singles independent chart at number 16.
Whether 'rocking' with her backing band or performing 'solo & unplugged', Tippi has proven to be a consummate live performer. Extensive touring has seen her perform in a wide variety of venues, including festivals (T In The Park etc.); headlining in clubs (Glasgow King Tut's / London Barfly etc.); and arenas (Glasgow SECC / Dublin Castle etc.) where she has appeared in guest slots for the likes of Iggy Pop & The Stooges, and of course Paul Weller.
Tippi was amongst the British artists selected to perform at the 2004 South By South West Festival in Austin, Texas where her show quickly sold out, leaving people queuing up outside, blocking the street and hoping to catch a glimpse of her playing!
Tippi's eponymous debut album was released towards the end of 2004 to critical acclaim, with the single 'Boy' receiving strong airplay in the U.K.
