notes

Edgy Confessional lyrics wickedly interplay with the music's rhythmic grooves and interlocking melodies. TJ's songwriting influences are evident throughout the album and the listener is reminded of the sharp wit of Elvis Costello and Paul Westerberg combined with the gravely delivery of Tom Waits.

As Griffin laments in Hemingway, the first of the cd's ten original tracks, " I felt like Hemingway on a bad day, with a headache, tipped over the ashtray. All I've got is change. I just got to change."

From beginning to end, the CD evokes a persona of love and loss and finishes with the wistfully fingerpicked "Heaven", a song about growing older and wondering where the dreams of youth have gone. The story follows a girl who "... moves back home with Mom and Dad because the old dreams are the first to ones to die and suburbia is fine for now and forever. The pay is good, but the sentence is for life."
