*****************************************

Live magazine called TJR "The new reverend of Rock'n'Roll"! On his 2nd CD, "Mixed Emotions" TJR drops the "Wildcards" and flies solo!

Continuing where his first CD (Rip Roarin'Rock'n'Roll) left off, TJR takes Blues, Rockabilly, Country, and Roots music and rocks his own spin on it.

This 2nd outing is divided into two sides (Yup! It's a two-sided CD. Read on and you'll find out how TJR did it).

The first half is the Rockin' Electric side. Five songs of TJR on electric guitar rockin' out with a full band. Recorded mostly live with minimal overdubs The Electric side features a remake of the classic "Hot Rod Lincoln". TJR also remakes a track from his first album and has re-titled it "Forbidden Fruit Ver. 2.0". (This version is more raw sounding and features a startlingly different bridge with a vocal answer callback section).

The second half is the Rockin' Acoustic side. For the five songs on this half TJR recorded vocals and rhythm acoustic guitar live in the studio. Then he went back and recorded acoustic 2nd guitar, acoustic lead guitar, a touch of acoustic piano, and then recorded what he called percussion on the acoustic guitar by scratching his strings and tapping on the body of the guitar.
"The end result should sound like a bunch o' guys jamming on acoustics"...TJR

Each side begins with the sound a record needle dropping to re-create the feel of what it was like when albums had two sides.

As a performer, and artist TJR has always been split between the Electric and Acoustic sides of his personality. This CD captures both. Thus the title: Mixed Emotions

Roots Music Report

A high-spirited release that just dares the listener to try and turn it down.
TJR stirs things up with the release of his new album titled “Mixed Emotions”. A high-spirited release that just dares the listener to try and turn it down. (Impossible) This is great music that takes us back to the good ole days of rock and roll. This is winning music that is upbeat and a delight to listen to. A bit on the bluesy side.

Give Your Ears A Treat...
Hey Everybody, If You Like Great Music Mixed Emotions Is A Must Have... The First Half Of The CD Starts With A Needle Dropping, And The Band Side Of T.J.'s Music Takes Off... Included In This Set Is My Favorite Song "Forbidden Fruit" But All Of The Songs Are Excellent!!! But, The Real Treat To This CD Is When The Needle Drops Again, And You Get To Hear TJR By Himself, Doing What Comes Naturally To Him. He Really Brings The Music To Life, Through His Awesome Guitar Licks And Natural Talent!!! BUY THIS RECORD!

Great album, strong songs, great musicianship
Great album, strong songs, great musicianship. This is what music is supposed to be. If songs like this were on the radio, I would listen. My favorites are Forbidden Fruit & Plenty of Speed, but like I said the whole album is strong.

Toe-tappin', feel-good tunes
Excellent (dare I say amazing) range of vocal and instrumental styles on this CD. Tons of talent on enthusiasm on this disc. Highly recommended!

Performing under the moniker of TJR, the Anaheim singer-songwriter-guitarist off
TJR, "Mixed Emotions" (independent) - Most people - including musicians - have at least a couple of sides to their personality. Why not celebrate and explore those alternate personalities?

That's what Timothy John Ramirez does on his sophomore effort, the apty titled "Mixed Emotions." Performing under the moniker of TJR, the Anaheim singer-songwriter-guitarist offers up a two-sided album on a standard single-sided CD. The disc begins with the sound of a needle dropping, followed by five rocking tracks that blend rockabilly, blues, country and rock, including the formidable "Skin and Bones."

Then you hear the needle drop again, and his folk muse emerges across a five-track spree visiting acoustic territory, including the impressive "Free Train Runnin'" and "Played."
