Album Notes

Named after the Indian “Tikka” symbol she wears on her forehead, T-ka writes and performs her own songs that take the best elements of soul and pop, fusing them into a fresh and contemporary style that’s all her own. With a fast growing reputation as a stunning live and soulful singer in her home city of Paris, France, she has already performed at clubs and festivals from New York to London and Amsterdam to Seoul.

T-ka’s new album “And Maybe A Tree Will Rise Out Of Me” was produced by Sylvia Massy, known from her work with artists like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince and Aerosmith. The recording budget for the album was raised on crowdsourcing website SellaBand.com, allowing T-ka and her bassist Tibo Barbillon to record with the stellar musicians Sylvia had assembled, including guitarist and co‐producer Jeff Pevar (Ray Charles, David Crosby) and drummer Stevie Di Stanislao (David Gilmour, Joe Walsh). The strings were arranged by Lisa Haley (George Martin) and horns by Bill Holloman (Nile Rodgers).

Recording as live as possible, Sylvia captures the essence of T‐Ka with the most soulful vocals she has ever recorded. The 10 songs are a careful balance of grooves and ballads, or as T‐Ka puts it, “songs to make you dance as well as cry.”

REVIEWS

A cool and classy debut
author: bbjazz
T-Ka is a gorgeous singer/songwriter from Paris with an emotive and soulful voice who has a knack for writing terrrific songs, the beautiful \"Flyin\" and \"5 In The Morning\" are two in particular. She\'s made a great album packed with fine musicianship with plenty of room for horns and strings. This album was funded solely by T-Ka\'s fans on the SellaBand website and was produced by Sylvia Massy in California. Check this out - you really won\'t be disappointed!
