Album Notes

Baltimore is a small city. The music scene is smaller. There were bands long before recent media attention was bestowed upon the city by the bay. The thing about a small town with a lot of musicians is that many seem to know each other and an incestuous sort of bond develops whereby bands, side projects, and offshoots come and go… Time Longer Than Rope is the product of a few other bands but sounds nothing like those bands. It’s name comes from a book about the struggles for freedom as well as a Prince Buster song.

The music is definitively rock-n- roll, but takes as much inspiration in the sounds and stylings of Dr. Alimantado as it does from Hot Snakes.

What does it sound like? There are drums, bass, guitars, synths, vocals, distortions, delays, fuzz & dynamics… How specific is that? Essentially, it sounds like humans playing instruments. This is rock music but this is not verse/chorus/verse. It is more accurately, the soundtrack to a bomb going off; slowed down so that it would take 15 years to hear from beginning to end.
