All I can say is that this was an awesome moment in time for (The Zion Church Choir). This project was originally recorded back in 1984 at a little studio in Pearl MS.Our pastor Bishop Melvin Coleman was very instrumental in the making of this album and it was originally produced by Don Terry Thigpen & Capitol J Enterprises. A full album was planed but only 4 songs and Bishop Coleman's sermonete were ever finished so we called it a mini album which is exactly what it was. All the songs and music was written and composed by Bro. Don Thigpen and he did a very good job with putting the whole thing together .However very little was done by the church or the chior to promote the album so it just laid around to collect dust for 20 years or better. But being the music lovers that my pastor and I are we just couldn't let that album just go to waste. So we did what we could to reproduce it .The sound quality may not measure up to today's digital standards but I believe with all my heart that you will be richly blessed by the message in each and every one of these highly anointed songs of praise and dedication. The songs are FOREVER (Soloist Bro. Danny Mosley), SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY (Lead By Bro. Hubbard C. Brown), THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD (Lead By. Bro.Bobby L.Austin), YEA DO I WALK also Lead By. Bro. Bobby and last but not least the sermonete by our pastor Bishop Melvin Coleman.Bishop Coleman is in his 70s now and he still has that fire in him that he had back then. This album represents the entire (New Zion)Gospel church family a church in which we were all very proud to be a part of .The church has faced many set backs and struggles over the years but for the most part many of the original members through the grace of God were able to hold the church together what can I say ? But through it all New Zion is still standing today and reaching a whole new genreation of believers.
Your Brother In Christ

A MOOD POINT
OVERLOOKED POTENTIAL
This article is not written to cast a negative shadow on the church or any of it's individual members. But in this church (New Zion) like so many other churches there were so many extremely gifted and anointed young people with gifts talents and potentials that are often overlooked unappreciated or both I said that to say this The Lord often gives us (the best) but he never gives it to us as a finished product he's still working on them and us too so in my conclusion let's be thankful for all that The Lord has blessed us with in the church. Who knows you might have the next Shirley Ceasar or Kirk Franklin singing in or directing your choir , Just don't drive them away from the church before The Lord can have a chance to develop the raw talent that lies within them.
AN ARTIST
A true artist is often overlooked unappreciated and in most cases just plain misunderstood by most of the people around him or her mainly because God has planted something so deep in that individual's spirit that even they themselves can't fully understand but in God's own time will not just show them ,but the whole world will plainly see and know what God is up to in the life of that individual.
ABOUT THE NEW ZION CHOIR
Back in the mid 80s this choir was composed of a group of mostly young kids in their late teens and early twenties who had very little if any formal musical training. But God's anointing was upon them and in my opinion they had just had just as much talented as any other choir in the world at the time they had Jesus and that was enough.
NEW ZION'S MUSICIANS
The New Zion Gospel Church has a long list of great musicians spanding from the 80s and beyond these are just a few ot them (keyboard) Sis.Myrtle Milliton,Bishop Melvin Coleman,Powell Odie,Bobby E. Lahmon, (The Late) Bro. Larry (Nichols (Drums Bass & Lead Guitar)Banard Johnson (Lead Guitar) ,Arlester Washington (Organ)who also worked with gospel legends like (The Late)Rev. James Cleveland ,Albertina Walker and (The Late) Dr. Mattie Moss Clark last but not least Bro.Don Thigpen (Played almost Any Instrument you could think of)which in my opinion was the best and most gifted of them all. I can truly say that God gave this church everything that it needed. And I would like to take time right now to thank The Lord for sending us each and every one of these extremely talented individuals to our church.
