Album Notes

Todd Almond is a singer/songwriter in New York City. His intimate shows (more often than not, Todd alone at the piano) and soulful songs are getting major attention for their witty observations of life and love in the city. The Village Voice says, "Almond's handling of . . . language is deft . . ." The Cincinnati Post says, "He is exquisite . . ."

This album, Almond's debut, features Almond on vocals, piano, and keyboards; John Curley (AFGHAN WHIGS) and Bill Alletzhauser (ASS PONYS, RUBY VILEOS) on guitars; and Beth Harris on backup vocals. More fully realized as ensemble pieces with multiple instruments on this recording, the songs glow with intimacy and lyrical integrity.

As a performer, Todd has been turning heads for many years. He is an acclaimed actor and recently played Hedwig in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH in Cincinnati. Rick Pender of CityBeat says, "Almond's got killer pipes!"

As a writer, Todd has had his music performed all over New York and the East Coast. He was featured at a new composer's concert in Boston, and has had his songs performed by some of Broadway's finest voices. He co-wrote and created the show GIRLFRIEND with the music of Matthew Sweet. His play OneDayMaureen was recently released as an independent short.

This cd is brilliant. My favorite song would have to be We Laughed. I heard Todd's story when he came to CCM and it made me fall in love with it even more. The vocals are chilling and the piano playing is breathtaking. Very versatile- love it!
