Album Notes

Todd McKinney began his music career in high school playing standup bass in a folk trio with his brothers Malcolm and Fred. In college he formed an electric band with Malcolm, Jonathan Edwards, Joe Dolce of “Shaddap You Face” fame and others. His songs have been recorded by Tom Rush and Edwards and produced by Martin Mull. Rush issued Todd’s song “Anna” as the first cut on his “Live At Symphony Hall” album. The concert from which Rush’s recording was made has been aired across the US and Europe. The song was also featured in an interview with Rush on ABC’s “Entertainment Tonight.”

Todd has appeared on bills with Tom Paxton, James and Livingston Taylor, Don McLean, Bill Monroe, B.B. King, Paul Butterfield and many others.

His current recordings are self-produced, featuring his vocals and playing on acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass, keyboards, and drum and percussion sequencing plus additional multi-instrumental work from Bob McCarthy and David Buzzell.

Todd’s melodies are at once accessible, yet, strikingly original. His lyrics are penetrating and poetic. In performance he is able to connect with audiences on a very personal level.

His music is magical.

REVIEWS

Energizing, soothing, calming, yet great to exercise to! Beautiful voice.

Depending on the song, this CD can give me goosebumps, make me want to smile, get up and dance, or invoke a meditative state. Words are witty, right on politically and/or environmentally, and inspiring. Each cut takes me to a better place, the CD flows and winds like a mountain stream, leaving me refreshed and energized. Todd's voice is absolutely beautiful, interesting and very sexy.
