Eugene Ysaye (1858-1921) was one of the best violinists of his generation. He composed his six sonatas for solo violin, Op. 27 in 1923-24. Violinist Jassen Todorov recorded these six sonatas in 2001 on a violin made by Antonio Stradivari in 1714. The American Record guide described it as "lovely...high praise...an important release for admirers of Ysaye's Sonatas" and the Strad wrote "...a violinist of rare technical ability...he brings musicality to his performances...his left hand is able to deliver Ysaye's demands in the many mercurial passages with commendable accuracy."
