Album Notes

Tiki Tunes for Tiny Tots is a different kind of children's music.

From the imaginative cover design by renowned Tennessee artist, Norris Hall, to the never before heard blend of unique musical instruments such as toy piano, harmonium, autoharp, harmonica, tenor guitar, tiki-tuned guitar, ocharina, windchimes ukelele, and omnichord...you get the feeling the Tolley Town Orchestra has stumbled upon something new and exciting.

These are songs that adults love singing as much as children.

It offers kids a totally different perspective and selection.

It began when producer, Mark Josephs, started recording some favorite songs using unusual and delightfully playful instruments.

"I had been around a lot of of recording studios, and saw how technical music was becomming.

I remembered how much I used to enjoy picking up and strumming one of my ukeleles or my tenor guitar just for fun, and I realized that a lot of joy had been lost from the kind of music I have always liked, even as a child.

Some of my friends thought it was silly to spend so much time on traditional songs like 'This Old Man' and 'Limbo Rock' until they heard them.

They went...Wow!" Mark's brother, Jeff Josephs, had developed a special tuning called tiki-tuned guitar.

That, along with Don Haynie's wonderful acoulstic bass and Stuart Paul on toy piano and keyboard, helped to create the Tolly Town Orchestra's sound.

The Tolley Town Orchestra is part of a collection of characters that live in Tolley Town, the fascinating storybook land created by artist Karen Sexton-Josephs.

Each CD cover can be personalized with a child's name or an adult's name.

It becomes an instant gift.

Everyone loves this feature.

It makes the CD especially theirs! Birthdays and group events are enhanced when each person has their own 'Tiki Tunes for Tiny Tots' especially for them! It's a brand new, imaginary world full of new kinds of characters, stories and music!

My daughter really likes this CD. We play it during mealtimes and when we're doing mellow activities. It's nice to find something that she will actively listen to.

When I first heard Tiki Tunes at my friend's house, I knew my 18-month old grandson would love it and he did.He danced and jiggled and clapped and laughed. It gave the whole family pleasure. I'll need a few more for some more kids I know.
