notes
"I would be hard pressed to name a guitarist more deserving as Italy's official guitar hero than Tolo Marton" (Tom Branson of Bluesrockers, 2003)
"Tolo Marton first caught my attention in January of 1998 when he took home the honors at the Jimi Hendrix International Guitar Competition with a straightforward rendition of "Red House". He slipped me a CD that night, and I discovered a player who transcended the Hendrix cover clone trap that he could easily have settled for" (Shaun Dale from Cosmic Debris, 1999)
Guitarist composer Tolo Marton was born in Treviso(Italy) in 1951. He became a musician in 1966. After a brief stint with the italian top selling band "Le Orme", he started his own solo career in 1976. His music taste ranges from rock blues to classic rock, with an ear for melody and roots american music.
One of Tolo's notable and distinctive playing characteristics is he really does not repeat himself, because each time his live performances are very different. Lot of improvisation plus unpredictable solos and set lists keep audience's attention live during the whole concert.
During his career he played in Texas several times and had his overseas highlight by winning the Electric Guitar Festival, a worldwide competition wich was elded by the Jimi Hendrix Family in Seattle in 1998. He received the First Prize (senior category) from the hands of Al Hendrix himself: the price was an extremely rare prototype of the Woodstock tribute white Strat that Jimi played (handbuilt by the Fender Custom Shop).
As for his main guitar influences, he quotes Rory Gallagher's early style, Nils Lofgren, Jimi Hendrix and Cream.
Tolo has performed with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, Ian Paice. He opened several times for B.B.King, Muddy Waters, Blues Brothers, Robben Ford.

oustanding
author: frank sorrentiA beautiful album for an outstanding musician like Tolo Marton, a great italian guitarist, who released an excellent Cd that in every and each note is captivating our attenton. I'm not facetious or giving a sideways compliments, but the ones that can appreciate this extraordinary unbelievable guitar player, are the real witness of a stellar performance. Deep inspiration and dazzling instrument solo creating melodies with a lot of variety and fantasy, letting my own imagination flow through the note of Stra-Live, and the climate is so impressive that is a delight from start to finish. Great Tolo Marton, everytime You let the music speak for itself, showing the way for the old souls like me, what the guitar is in the hand of a master
Great live tracks!
author: MarcoThese are, in my opinion, the greatest live tracks taken from Tolo's performances. A great live CD!!! Also, five stars to CD Baby!!!
Tolo Marton Delivers The Goods Again!
author: Jim BergerTolo's latest live cd could be termed a "Greatest Hits Live," but, in fact, these versions of his classic songs are so different from earlier studio and live cuts that it's like hearing many of them the first time. Also, one new song, "I Belong To Another Race," deserves particular mention for its inventiveness and urgency. One can hear traces of Tolo's main influences (Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher & Nils Lofgren) in his work, but, really, Tolo Marton, like all the really great guitarists, has his own sound. Myself, even after collecting 1000's of blues and guitar-based albums, when I heard my 1st Tolo Marton cd a few years ago, I was immediately hooked...and I'd definitely recommend STRA, his latest album, as a great way to start appreciating his work.
