Album Notes

At 21 years old, Tom Butwin has done what it takes many unsigned musicians years to accomplish. In August of 2005, Tom recorded a 5 song EP with the help of producer and guitarist Marlon Young (Dave Matthews, Kid Rock) and well known recording engineer Al Sutton (Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock) and has since sat down and performed for major label A&R. He accomplished all of that while simultaneously (and still currently) studying as a full time student at a local university and working to support himself. With one independent album already under his belt in 2004 (on which Tom engineered, mixed, and performed all the instruments except for drums) and his new EP which was released in January of 2006, he is drawing a lot of attention from fans, old and new. On his new EP, Tom had the pleasure of working with drummer Vinnie Dombroski (lead singer of Sponge), keyboardist Peter Pisarczyk (George Clinton), and local saxophone legend Doug Cassens, who brought his songs and recordings to a level that can compete with anything on the radio today. Tom is currently booking shows, promoting his record, and looking forward to reaching as many people as he possibly can with his music.

Tom Butwin makes the kind of music that should already be heard over the airwaves. This EP is great...I'm always disappointed when it ends so soon...would have been nice to hear more...but I really enjoy it!

Doug Cassens plays at my moms church, so his addition to the cd only made Toms melodic words and tone sound better. I wish it was a little longer because Tom has some different styles throughout the cd and it would nice to see what else he has. I look forward to seeing what else he has in the future.
