ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The album Tree of LIfe was designed for those who have been through the devastating effects of losing a loved one, including a parent, child, sibling, spouse or friend and how one can find healthy ways to cope with the loss. Singer/songwriter Tom Dalton has weaved a tapestry of songs together which draws directly from his work as a bereavement counselor and music therapist working with adults, children and adolescents. Each song deals with a different type of loss and describes the emotional landscape of those dealing with the death of a significant person in their life. Many of the songs offer validation for the experience of grieving in both the beginning of the loss and over time. There are spiritual overtones to some of the songs which carry messages of hope. Other songs guide the listener toward developing a sense of meaning and understanding through the loss.

A special thanks to The VITAS Choral singers on “The Heart of Hospice” for making time to record their voices on this song. Thank you to Adam Sears for recording his amazing vocals on the rap portion of “That’s What Grief is.” A very special thank you to my friend Paul Feurer for his incredible electric guitar!

Above all thank you to my family for allowing me the freedom and time to create this album and especially to Smita and Deanna for being supportive of my music through the years.
