Blue Language is a two-disc album featuring a live performance by Tom Wunderlich, Dan Kimbro, and John Henry. The album was recorded entirely during a show at Reed College on April 2nd, 2005. We had a great audience and the show went really well, so we decided to produce the album for mass consumption.
The 28 songs are all original (with the exception of our versions of couple of our favorite covers) and tend to stand apart from your average singer/songwriter fare. Tom Wunderlich writes joke/folk songs with clever lyrics, Dan Kimbro writes folky/bluegrassy songs about amusingly unconventional subjects, and John Henry writes folk/rock songs with socially relevant lyrics. The three performers took the stage and traded songs with each other (and banter with the audience) for over 2 hours. The album contains many songs that have never been recorded before, and dozens of one-of-a-kind performances.
This is the first full-length album for Tom and Dan, and the first full-length solo album for John Henry, who can usually be heard with the support of his band the Jigsaw Gentlemen (www.jigsawgentlemen.com). Dan also plays with the Peasants (buy their album on CDbaby!) who can be seen regularly around Portland, OR, playing bluegrass with sweet sweet harmony in your favorite pubs.
