notes

"..a cross between Tony Rice, James Taylor and Guy Clark.."

"Tom Fisch is a singer/songwriter in the classic sense. This tuneful and friendly album is simplistic in approach. It's nice to hear things that aren't over-produced. This is mellow American folk music..."
Shake! magazine, Nashville, TN

"Dan Seals meets Dave Mallett--great voice, great lyrics.."
Jeannette Robinson WCHG Hot Springs, VA

"...Fisch has refined his warm, relaxed singing style while eschewing the typically glitzy Music City over-production tendencies. With one foot in folk and the other in country Fisch offers a cover of Guy Clark's classic "Homegrown Tomatoes" and 10 solid original tunes, including "Kid From Yesterday" and the wonderful title track."

Growing up in Albany, NY, Tom won his first guitar in a raffle at a school bazaar when he was ten years old. That began a lifelong love and appreciation of music from a variety of genres. Tom says, "As the years went by, I found myself getting into singers and players like Doc Watson, James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg, Tony Rice, the Byrds, and traditional folk and country artists. I was also influenced by singer-songwriters such as Dave Mallet, John Prine, Steve Goodman, Dave Loggins, and Jonathan Edwards." Tom entertained audiences for many years throughout the Northeast at colleges, clubs, coffeehouses, festivals and fairs.

In 1991 Tom moved to Nashville, TN to further his songwriting career. He formed his own publishing company and his songs have been recorded by a number of artists, including the Oak Ridge Boys and Swiss country singer Erica Arnold. Tom continues to pitch his songs to other artists but his main focus now lies in his own career as a performer. In 2004, Tom relocated to Western North Carolina and it's thriving acoustic music scene. With the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains for inspiration, Tom and his music have found a comfortable place to call home. And wherever he performs, audiences continue to connect with the warm, appealling style, diverse range of material, and talent this seasoned performer brings to the stage.

  • We Could Use A Little Rain

I first heard "Carolina Callin" at a jam session in Chesnee, South Carolina. I loved it! I remembered the artist's name and found him on the Internet--which led me to CD Baby. The whole album is wonderful, I love the lyrics, the musical style--all of it. I'm giving the album as Christmas gifts to my closest musical friends. Thank you, Tom and associates--Paulette (I second the request for you to make another CD!)

We heard Tom in Hendersonville on the front porch of bed and breakfast - He was simply delightful-The song Tell Everyone touched my heart - I sat in front of several strangers with tears streaming down my face --I enjoyed all the songs so much, but this one in particular was so meaningful---Thank you and please make another CD for me!!!!

The entire album is awesome. I just caught your performance at the Crooked Door Coffee House in Marion, North Carolina and realized that I play guitar, you are a guitarist. I look forward to your next release. Best of luck.

  • Enjoyable Music,

I enjoyed two songs the most, "Carlolina Callin'" and "Home Grown Tomatoes". The latter caught my ear as a clogger. My youngsters would like it. I would like to see you write more songs with Roy Hurd. I followed his link to get to hear your music. I am glad that I did as your music is relaxing and very enjoyable to listen to. Are you going to come backup to NY state? Hope so.

Enjoyed the "Home Grown Tomatoes" and songs that were written by you and Brittany Allyn. Also, one of our favorites is Another Hot Day In the South.

  • Satisfying but not too filling. Just the way country music should sound.
    author: Dave Rhodes

If you could program your local country music station, this is the CD you'd play over and over. All the tunes sound fresh yet familiar. The writing is tasteful and original: never cliched or boring. Tom sings with conviction and sensitivety making each tune a stand out. You'll love this CD!

  • My Uncles CD is great!
