This is Japanese female rapper Tomgirl's very first maxi single "Give It A Try" before the modification.

Tomgirl was born in Hyogo prefecture in Japan on May 6th 1978. She started to rap in the age of 16 during her home stay in Walpole Massachusetts, USA. After the backing vocal job of Japanese pops band “Tornado Tatsumaki”, she met Udy Frank, the Nigerian composer who lives in Tokyo, and started to create her own music in 2003.

The start of her professional music career was 2005 Nov, when her song “Give It A Try”was nominated for “Yokohama Music Award” in FM Yokohama, Japan’s one of main radio stations. Tomgirl got the second best prize thanks to the listeners’ vote, which led her regular appearance in FM Yokohama.

Her first maxi single CD “Give It A Try” was released nationwide in May 2006. Without any tie-in or commercial advertisement, it hit the 18th sales position in Japanese indie chart at its 1st week. A famous male MC Daruma-san was featured in one song of the CD.

Her first album “Tomography” (Now Available in Amazon.com) was released nationwide in June 2007. A famous female MC Maira was featured in one song of the CD. In ”Tomography”, she raps in Japanese, English and even in Chinese.

Tomgirl is also known as a local radio DJ and a battle MC. She has a program in a local station “Radio Shonan” every Friday, and has won the best 8 position in a pre Yokohama match of Japan’s most popular MC Battle “Ultimate MC Battle 2007”in spite of the fact she was the only girl out of 32 applicants.
