notes
"Steel Tropics Christmas Paradise" is the brand new exciting mixture of classic Christmas songs done on the Steel Drums,Marimba, Guitar,Percussion and other instruments. Many who have given this CD a listen have said that it is so refreshing to hear these popular Christmas melodies done in the various tropical styles heard here. The listener will instantly recognize all of these familiar Christmas tunes right away.
This is Steel Tropics 2nd CD that they've put out in the last 8 months. Their debut CD, "Steel Tropics With Tom Liston" was so successful that the group decided to do a follow up recording right away. They all agreed that they should do a Holiday recording and display their versatility with these wonderful Christmas tunes.
On their latest CD, "CHRISTMAS PARADISE," the group offers the listener an array of popular Christmas melodies, all done with Hot Tropical Grooves. It's an Island twist on Holiday favorites such as: "Winter Wonderland", "Jingle Bells", "White Christmas" and "Frosty The Snowman" to name just a few of the many selections heard here on the disc.
Steel Tropics is made up of: Tom Liston on the Steel Drums,
Chris Wabich on Drumset & Percussion and Anders Swanson on Acoustic Bass. Joining the group on this Holiday recording are: Larry Koonse playing some amazing Guitar, Brian Atkinson who really burns on the Marimba, Tom's brother Bill who does some beautiful Flute & Tin Whistle work and Jackie Beery who lays down some groovy vocals.
All of these performers are top-notch musicians and have shared the stage and recorded with literally a who's who of stars. Some of them include: Chicago, Cleo Laine, Freddie Hubbard, Boogsie Sharpe, Ray Brown, Jack Sheldon, Patrice Rushen, Les Brown, Al Hirt, Mel Torme and Sting.
Give "Christmas Paradise" a listen and it will make your Holiday Time a special one.
It's Christmas the Tropical way! Check it out.

marimba from antipodes
author: graham answerthLovely and groovy in an old fashioned way. Great flute work...very listenable. The steel drums are beautiful. Maybe I come from another era, but this album is so laid back...very sixties in that jazz style.
Christmas Paradise
author: Richard KeithEver since the first of many holidays in the Carribbean many years ago I have enjoyed the steel drums, and your Christmas CD has topped them all. This is a great rendition of Christmas music - thanks.
Great version of Christmas Music
author: MorganI love the tropics and the steel drums sound of island music. This was an awesome twist to familiar Christmas songs. My friends have all loved walking into our home and hearing this along with the classic Christmas CD's I play. My purchase was for my 65 year old mother-in-law. She loved it too! We also got her Steel Tropics with Tom Liston...just a great CD as well.

author: Susan from NCI wasn't quite sure how I'd like the traditional songs done with 'tropical sounds' but I just loved it. If you like the steel drum sound in general you will enjoy this. I get compliments from friends every time I've played it and my children enjoy it too!
