NO FRONT TEETH Records review of Full Length
TOMMY GUN AND THE BULLETS - S/T CD

After the 'Something New' 7" I was really fucking excited about this full-length because TOMMY GUN AND THE BULLETS have a really great sound. They manage to mix a great snotty '77 sound with a ballsy streetpunk style but always keeping things simple and really punchy. The vocals are fucking sick too. They have the magic of that early TKO sound but mixed in with something else too... maybe a touch of the Hostage sound too. It's like a fantastic blend of THOSE UNKNOWN, THE SMUT PEDDLERS, SWINGIN' UTTERS, BONECRUSHER, THE SORE THUMBS, SMOGTOWN, DISCONTENT etc. They really do have a killer sound and even though there's all these comparisons flying around, TOMMY GUN AND THE BULLETS truly have their own sound. There's such energy running all the way through this record. These guys have really grabbed me and I really think they're onto something special. They just make me stand to attention and it's been a shit long time since a band did that. They just do everything right... short, attacking songs, great sound, great style, real balls... excellent.

NOW WAVE Fanzine Review of Full Length
Tommy Gun & The Bullets
self-titled CD
(Piss & Vinegar Records)

(REVIEW BY LORD RUTLEDGE)

Tommy Gun & The Bullets is the perfect name for this Bay Area foursome, because the band really comes out guns-a-blazing on its great debut album. These fellas don't dick around or try anything fancy. They tear through 12 aggressive punk tunes in just 25 minutes, kicking up a racket that's sure to delight fans of Sonoma/San Fran greats like The Bodies, Workin' Stiffs, and Randumbs. This is the real deal, kids. No-bullshit PUNK ROCK delivered with ferocity and guts, boasting an attack that's equal parts '77 snot, hardcore celerity, street punk brawn, and rock n' roll debauchery. Propelled by gravel-throated vocals, boisterous sing-alongs, rockin' guitar leads, and a hoppin' backbeat, these songs strike quick and hit hard. Reprised here are some old gems from the last 7"(like "Something New" and "Put Me Back"), while new favorites such as "The Pope Has Got a Gun", "On the Line", and the deliciously vitriolic "Not With You" ensure that Tommy Gun's first shot at the full-length format is no disappointment. No time is wasted, and no high-minded statements are attempted. These guys get in there, kick some teeth in, and get out. The name of the record label is Piss & Vinegar. Talk about truth in advertising!
