Tom Roush has had a formal and a lot of informal music education. He not only arranges all of his music but plays all of the instruments also. These instruments include violin, viola, various guitars, keyboards, bass, and banjo. Through the years, Tom has been inspired by many composers and performers such as Enya, James Taylor, James Horner, and Mark Isham. He believes that every song that one arranges and performs be it original or written by someone else, should reflect what is in the performer's heart. He imitates no one. Imitating another musician or performer may get one playing jobs but seldom is anyone remembered simply because he or she sounded 'just like' someone else! What a miserable life that would be - just ask any Elvis impersonator! If you want to hear songs from the heart, you're now in the right place!
The Winds of Christmas is made up of fourteen hymns, carols, or songs. Two are original and the rest are at least 100 years old. There are both vocal and instrumental pieces. This collection consist of several very old carols that have through the years slipped into obscurity. Reintroducing and arranging them for a 21st century world has been one of the great joys in making this CD. Remember - CHRISTMAS IS NOT JUST A HOLIDAY - IT IS A STATE OF MIND - ENJOY!!
