Album Notes

In 1971, three brothers: John, Ken and Larry Tomsick, with Alan Pirnat (lead vocal) and John Zemaitis (drums) formed the band 'Tarsier'.

In the mid to late 1970's, we played around Cleveland, Ohio as 'Missing Persons', the title of a song we wrote. (a name we used before the pop '80s band with the same name surfaced). In 1980, Greg Davidson joined on drums. We played local clubs including the Cleveland Agora, doing all originals, but decided to focus on writing and recording.

The first original we recorded was 'Dimension of Now' in 1974. Over the next 15 years (into the late 1980's) we recorded nearly 50 songs and demos at various studios around Cleveland. None of the music was ever released. A 2nd CD Compilation by Tomsix will be forthcoming on CD Baby.

'Soundbones' is a 14-song CD of originals written and recorded from 1974-79. Included is a 6-page booklet with the lyrics. There were only 250 total CD's originally pressed and shrink-wrapped, and will probably not be re-issued when these are gone. Thanks for listening. - Ken Tomsick

Talk about from out of nowhere....

On a two-track? I can't begin to imagine if these guys were let loose in a real studio... Comparing favorably with other unearthed fossils like Yezda Urfa and Hands, Tomsix obviously did their homework. Earlier tracks absolutely sound like missing pieces from Yes and Gentle Giant, before later succumbing to the poppier, arena rock sound of Rush or Styx. Superior musicianship throughout, songwriting and arrangements, though a bit derivative, certainly high quality...in short, a real find. Thanks guys...sorry about the timing!

a diamond in the rough

I ran into this c.d. by accident. As a fan of yes and gentle giant, i could not believe what i was hearing. What a great group of musicians, and music only the 70's could inspire, with thoughtful, intricate arrangements, great imagination, as well as superb vocals. It is amazing the hidden talent that lurks in the dusty corners of c.d. baby.

Dad?!!?
author: Adam Pirnat
Apparently my dad was in a band. Apparently he forgot to tell us. So I picked up this CD and checked it out. Need I say...almost better than the beach boys? Very possibly!
