14 tunes from NRBQ's original drummer.
This artist played drums in the worlds most eclectic band and demonstrates he can jump from style to style effortlessly while still maintaining a common thread of originality.
Tom weaves a trail through such R+B ass kickers as "Scuzziod Bop", which has overtones of Capt.
Beefheart, to the "up yours" attitude of Al Andersons "Nya Nya Nya"( a hit song if there ever was one)to the unrelenting groove of "Twitchin''N The Kitchen, which defies you to not get up and dance. There are elements of The Byrds and the humor and warmth of the Lovin'Spoonful, and even a full blown tour de force improvisation on a instrumental written by Steve Ferguson,NRBQ's original guitarist.
NRBQ fans and those not familiar with the band will certainly enjoy the welcome return of this unique talent.

It is a lot of fun to listen to!

My daughter and I really had fun listening to Twitchin in the Kitchen.
We danced and sang with the songs. We especially liked "Na Na Na" I think
that song makes a very real point about growing up. I think you will really
enjoy this CD and should pick it up today!

A look at an American original.
author: Jack Hayward
When you listen to Twitchin' 'N The Kitchen, it's clear that Tom Staley's roots are deeply planted in NRBQ land. As the band's original drummer, Staley has the pedigree necessary to co-write and record a song called Nya Nya Nya and pull it off! And if that's not enough, he follows it up with Desperate Heart -- a song that C&W enough to make you want to saddle up and ride ol' paint right out of town. Later on the CD, Staley the takes us on a trip through funky town with Scuzzoid Bop (my favorite), rock and roll-ville with the Twitchin', CD's title cut, and up yonder in the hollow with Run Dog Run. And just about the time your head has twisted itself completely around, here comes Shape Shifter, which showcases Staley's incredible percussion capabilities. Bottom line? There's something for everyone on this original and versatile CD. What's next, Tom?
