Album Notes

Violinist/composer Tom Swafford spent most of 2009 underground in the New York subways; primarily the 7th Avenue stop in Brooklyn. He developed this music to accompany travelers on their way to work. Styles range from down and dirty fiddle tunes to Baroque style classical music. Some of music, like Morning Train, depicts commuters frantically rushing to catch the train, and others, like his La Folia variations (to a very common Baroque-era tune), portray a sense of contemplative calm experienced during the moments between the trains.
