ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Tom Yoder is a singer/songwriter whose style is rooted in bluegrass and folk music. Add a little rock edge, a touch of blues, sweeten with some country swing and you have a recipe for Tom's unique roots sound.

Tom's first solo record is called "Laying Down Roots". Produced by Tom Dean (of Devonsquare fame), the CD is a collection of original material as well as self-styled covers. Tom Dean writes in the liner notes: "This collection of songs is dripping with musical integrity and spontaneity. Tom plays with a joy that is infectious and impossible to ignore...this music deserves to be heard."

This CD is amazing! Gram Parsons meets Steve Earle!
Tom Yoder's CD Laying Down Roots gives me a calm, relaxing feeling. It's like going to a master mechanic where you don't have to worry about the job getting done properly because you're in the hands of a master!

Buy this CD.

This is "Top down over the Kango" music...feels real good!
This CD sounds great...Tom Yoder shines like the sun while basking in his musical glory...Nice to hear from him again...His dedication and love for his roots and musical influences are ever-present throughout this listening...Great backing players on this one too. Lovingly produced with the heart, soul and gifted ears of helmsman and mix-master Tom Dean, Laying Down Roots will likely please everyone it touches. There's a potpourri of talent in this package. Give it a spin, folks...

Great CD, reminds me of Fleetwood Mac
Tom Yoder's CD Laying Down Roots is excellent! Their are hints Steve Earle, Poco, Emmylou Harris, Fleetwood Mac, etc. I love the fiddle parts, three part harmony vocals (reminds me of Gram Parsons with Emmylou) and the song selection is wonderful! In particular, Aidan's Tune the instrumental piece has a great Celtic/Riverdance feel to it.

Cool Roots record, Americana, bluegrass meets modern folk.
I listened to the first two cuts from the site and loved what I heard! Especially like: I Still Miss Someone. Great vocal blend, like early Eagles or Pure Prairie League.

I'd like to see this live!

Great CD from New England, wonderful musicianship!
Thank you for introducing me to Tom Yoder, this is a wonderful CD! I am from Maine and have been a fan of Devonsquare and I hear Tom Dean's influence on here. I also love the Boneheads and it's great to hear Scott Elliot. I recently saw Joyce Anderson with Harvey Reid and I love her fiddle playing as well as her voice. All of this great talent along with Tom Yoder up front equals an All-Star New England line-up, what's not to love?
