Album Notes

**Tondrae Kemp** redefines the word crooner…He's replaced overt sentimentality with sincerity, and his sex appeal lies within his own private confidence, vulnerability and wit...

Sparklingly fresh! The last time a male singer came across in mainstream black pop with so much passion and so much to say, his name was Marvin...

Theres a certain charisma, a certain depth, a certain je ne sais quoi about Tondrae. You can hear it in his lyrics, his voice…you can feel it in his vibe, and see it in his eyes. A thinker, an aritst and an undeniable energy. As funny as he is serious, as poignant as he is playful. Imagine hanging out with Richard Pryor and Bob Marley! Not only would you be high as hell!…. but you'd definitely leave with some things on your mind! Such is the effect and purpose of Tondrae Kemp and his music.

When asked about his musical purpose, Tondrae says, "To make the personal universal. To elevate the listener beyond his situation to a higher consciousness of the world around them or to just make them say, ' I can really relate to that, would ya turn that sh*t up please?!" Tondrae turns a mirror to the world by revealing his own experiences with life and love.

In 2005 he released his first album "Still Searching", with surefire hits like the infectuously funky "Don't Trust Ya, But I Love Ya" and the "Amen!" evoking, "Reason Season Lifetime".

STILL SEARCHING is rooted in an old vocab....It serves as a conduit for an awakening of something dark, familiar, and long slept....yet it is a warm, thoroughly distinctive record which mixes jazz, soul and a slice or two of hip hop into a rich, smoky musical brew.

Most recently, Tondrae has relocated to New York City having been displaced by Hurricane Katrina, where he is recording his newest project "The Hotter The Fire" (The title should hint you to the quality of its material!). He is also recording several EP projects and playing clubs and various area shows. Recently, He has just returned from Europe where he recorded on the latest Block 16 Compilation and performed in various shows thru England and Holland.

When listening to Tondrae, just let the words, the humor, the melodies and above all, the voice nourish you.....Tondrae Kemp speaks to us with the wistful yet certain voice of an unfulfilled archangel who knows he'll eventually find the path to good in himself and others.

this CD was medicine for my soul. First i heard Tondrae at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, standing behind 30,000 or more people it was just like being on stage with them Then i'm walking down the street and see the CD and i buy it. Needless to say, It was this CD that started to repair my soul. I must mention how the whole Cd is so therapeutic to any soul that listens. I want to dedicate this Album to all those that lack knowledge of the facts, if you're short on motivation or, need a reality or if your afraid to think/accept change! there's a cure- and his name is Tondrae, the Album is "Still Searching". Go ahead, Heal yourself by listening. Peace, Wizard "L" AKA, Wiz From South Side, Jamaica Queens, NY-BLVD
