Album Notes

The Twin Cities noise rock trio TONNAGE formed in 2003 and has steadily built a following across the Midwest with their heavy riffs and intense live performances. The Swell is the band's fourth release, and third on Round 13 Records, a label cooperative they formed in 2004 as a vehicle for promoting their previous efforts. Engineer Adam Tucker (Countach, The Crinn and Bastard Saint, among others) was successful in capturing the band's raw energy over three days in April 2007, resulting in nine tracks of crushing brutality, and the most accurate portrayal of their live sound to date. TONNAGE likens this sound to that associated with Amphetamine Reptile Records in the mid-1990s, having been influenced by their roster of heavy-hitters including Helmet, Unsane, Hammerhead and Guzzard.
