A musical hybrid combining hard hitting rap and powerful vocal melodies with bombastic grooves and the danceable grace of good funk, all delivered in a pop song structure can mean only one thing...
Tons Of Chill
In what seems to be an endless need for popular comparison, Tons of Chill is often likened to a mix of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beastie Boys, and Beck combined with an R&B sense of chorus and hook. Though these comparisons give the impression of a genre or sound, Tons of Chill can only truly be identified in terms of its own uniqueness.
The roots of Tons of Chill can be found in the lifelong friendship between the band's founders, Eric Welsh and Nick Palihnich. Eric, a professionally trained keyboardist/programmer, brought the ear for pop stylings and a talent for producing deadly grooves to the TOC. Nick Palihnich delivered a hard-hitting, no frills lyrical style and his talent for knocking out a track is matched only by the unending bottom to his voice. The raw sound of Tons of Chill was born in Boston, MA during marathon, all night studio sessions. Eric and Nick treated the recording studio as their personal playground, and some thirty songs, some raw, some polished, emerged. These tracks contained such intensity that responses evoked in listeners surpassed even the duo's expectations.
Viewed initially as a studio project, the sound of TOC was getting into the hands of friends of friends of friends whom quickly demanded more. The fierce loyalty of fans has been with TOC from past to present. With the overwhelming response to the music and both Eric and Nick's desire for some fresh ideas, guitarist Will Holland and bassist Matthew Prouty were brought into the TOC fold. Will and Matthew had previously worked together and their experience quickly infused the already contagious sound of TOC with exciting new musical elements.
A short-lived band formed in an effort to push the music to the stage. A few unsuccessful attempts with various female vocalists and drummers found the band back to the core four members in search of talent that would not just fill empty spots but take Tons of Chill to the next level. Vocalist Stacy Jethroe and drummer Tom Lambrecht not only rounded out the band but also contributed such a level of talent that the TOC has now reached its deadliest form.
With regular Boston area shows that push clubs to capacity limits and new songs emerging from a now endless source of creativity, Tons of Chill is taking its hybrid sound of rap, pop, rock and funk to everyone who has an ear for music...music that can't be denied.

No info on whether these guys are signed to a label or independant? The songs and production are absolutely wicked!
Some polished tracks and some low-fi, crushing music that works well and retains the sound of the band.
