‘Rush’ is a sprawling hour and a half collection of electronic instrumentals culled form Tony Amherst's years on the road; in the bars, dark rooms and parks of the world, behind the camera and in front of it. Sound quality and ideas very from track to track, depending on mood and whatever recording facilities were close to hand. The sound is indulgent, deep, sly, and nitrous. Several tracks were featured on gay porn soundtracks, or were outtakes from same. Says Tony, “The music is best enjoyed, in any order, during any and all erotic encounters and / or when one is right on the cusp of sleep. In other words, listen during those time when unconsciousness sets in and voices are heard, thus the music itself becoming a conversation.”
Commenting on the random production values of the record, Tony declares, "I abhor retro elitist purism. This is cheap music and there's another reason its a digital release. People's standards have lowered to hearing music on the smallest systems imaginable. The turnover of music today is lightning fast, like pornography itself."
