notes
...the thing is, I've written songs for years, (I won't tell you how many years). It seems I'm exceptionally good at writing songs.
But I became disillusioned with myself, I thought I'd "missed the boat" ... I tried to find a safe, conventional job, that would pay the bills, (without much success). (But I still wrote songs)
Then, a few years ago, I met someone who heard my songs, related so strongly to them, she said: they put into words, things she had always felt but had never been able to express... she loved my songs...I suddenly saw their brilliance... I had hundreds of jewels right under my nose, (its amazing how you can miss the obvious, when your are so close up to it) ... I had a new faith in my music.
I've been inspired to go out into the world and try again... and what do you know? other people love my songs too!!!
So here I am ... with the marvel of the internet ... HELLO EVERYBODY.... I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE SHOW!! ...and No More U-turns!

sharing Tony's cd with family and friends!
author: Mark de Jonge (M-jo) singer/songwriter..only co-existing with your perception!! you should know how i enjoyed your cd, my brother too in the car to Zealand where i'm from and now everybody is cosy in the livingroom and i hear you singing 'alchemyyyyyyy' in the background and everyone is relaxed. i would like to ask you about how and where you recorded it because i like it a lot, very much, the sound is actually one that really would go with my actual music and songs... especially the reverb you used makes it all so round or maybe you did a great job mixing and probably both.. it's all great, i like of course (but that's the wave) the happy songs most. And the way Marielle is drumming on 'marathon', so cool, so happy, she must have a very special energy within,. so glad you both people meditate!
stream of conciuosness reaction to Tony's CD 'No More U-Turns'
author: Mark de Jonge (M-jo) singer/songwriterHello there tony!! thanks for your amazing CD. When i came to hear 'just passing through' i was very glad, (apart from the other songs and i never heard the beat-hipster sixties club sound reproduced so well, i guess it's only possible to be done by someone who has it all running in his veins) but when i heard 'marathon of life', with marielle singing 'living, living!' oh man, you should have seen me, dancing, screaming in the room. Really, i'm not joking, it made the start of my day so powerful and pretty. And you know, to me it all fits, because i went out, on my bike for 15 minutes or so, and i saw only details you know, someone's shoes when i was standing by a traffic light, of course only having the chorus of your song in my head (living, living!), a girl singing on her bike and i looked very well but she really had no earphones or whatever, just singing and slowly moving her head and i remembered your saying: 'i like to tell people when they're pretty', and it all fitted in my new wave feeling, i am absolutely sure there is a new wave coming, the second hippie wave. And everybody contributes, everyone is a drop in the wave. You are a drop, (and you must be sensitive, already feeling it coming in 1999 when you recorded your songs, and probably earlier already) and me, i am a drop, by being me, and quoting your fifth element theory in one of my rush poems.

(Ro’s response to me singing my song: “Carnage”) Yeah, that song is really special. Washes away any hatred I had left in me, so that's good :) London is tragic, and we need songs like yours right now. Ro, organizer of : amsterdamsongwritersguild.com
