Tony 's 2003 debut Record, "Something To Say" featuring the Tony Gallo Group has made the Grammy ballot 9 times in five categories including the Best Vocal Jazz Record! WGBH's Jazz Gallery and Eric in the Evening, and WICN jazz programming have featured Tony's Music for programming as well as in Studio performances. Tony performs regularly at Ryle's in Cambridge, The Acton Jazz Cafe' and many other regional venues and event sites as well as occasionally outside the region.

Tony Gallo is a singer out of the male “saloon singer” class who takes a Jazz-pop direction on his debut Record Something To Say, that is a lot of fun. Innovative interpretation and vocal tones coated in class describe the contents of Tony Gallo’s work. Gallo has a strong tenor to baritone range with the right amount of style that works well within the variety of music he and his flexible band plays. In covering jazz, R&B, and pop covers the selections are given stylish treatments that exude familiarity, yet still pronounce an air of freshness. Along with a group of multifaceted musicians who with every cut compliment the panache of the project, this effort brings one back to that Bourbon Street feel after midnight, very smooth with a clean delivery. The CD concludes with a fresh take on Steely Dan's ever cool “Black Cow,” which is complete with tight horns, soulful background vocals, and just the right vibe.

Tony is currently writing and working on a follow-up record and is planning on early 2007 as a release date. The Music will feature mostly original compositions and explore various genres including Adult Contemporary Blues/Soul, Groove and Pop- Jazz. Tony Gallo performs at Ryle's Jazz Club in Cambridge, Acton Jazz Café, as well as many other Venues, Festivals/Concerts, Corporate Events and Event Sites in the New England Area.
Tony's group now includes recent members: Tony Vaughn, Joey Scrima, Herman Johnson, Frank Wilkins, Thomas Hebb, Dave Mattacks, and Mike Mele.
Note: Tony's remake of Black Cow is in company with such artists as Chuck Loeb, Cornelius Bumpus, Donald Fagen, Randy Brecker on the European release of Maestros Of Cool, A Tribute to the music of Steely Dan. I'm mad about good music, no matter what style, jazz/soul/blues/gospel/funk/folk/latin/bossa-nova my favorites being, to name just a few, Al Jarreau, Ray Charles, Michael McDonald, Donald Fagen, Michael Franks, Sting, Eva Cassidy, James Taylor, Kenny Rankin, Tower of Power, Natalie Cole, N.Y.Voices, Diana Krall, Karrin Allyson, Kevyn Lettau, Steve Tyrell, David Sanborn, Joe Sample, Larry Carlton, David Benoit, Geogie Fame, Ivan Lins, Djavan, Liane Foly - I name these so that anyone who reads this may easily identify my musical taste. I found this Tony Gallo CD almost by accident, through this marvelous website that is CDBABY. Now it has become one of my favorites, no doubt. Great voice with obvious versatility and great scat here and there, fresh arrangements, very good musicians, great choice of tunes. I love every tune, but I can't help make a special remark to Autumn Leaves (w/ voice very close to A.Jarreau), Mood Indigo (are you sure the female voice heard at the end isn't Karrin Allyson?), St Thomas (I'd never heard a sung version of this tune before) and Black Cow (better than Steely Dan's version in my opinion). This CD is a must have for Jazz/Blues/Funk lovers. Mr Gallo, are you intending to release other CDs? Thank you for giving me lots of enjoyment listening to this one. Keep on playing and singing in this great style. May God help you and your musicians. The best for you.
Soulful arrangements of a wonder group of tunes!
author: Anthony GrantTony has given us his take on a wonder collection of his favorite songs with this debut CD. I particularly enjoyed his performance on My One and Only Love. At times, his voice is reminiscent of Lou Rawls' rich, flavorful tenor. Tony's passion comes through on this CD, much as it does in his live performances. Treat yourself to both!

The tune selections are right on target for Tony. Stylistically, the cd is timeless in nature. All Blues and St. Thomas are stand-outs in my mind. Most importantly, Mr. Gallo is able to put forth the energy of a blues singer while having the finesse a jazz song stylist. Be sure to pick this cd up because Tony Gallo has Something to Say!

I was very impressed by his fresh takes on standard jazz tunes like All Blues ,Mood Indigo and St.Thomas. In Tonys hands these tunes run the gamut from funky blues, New Orleans style and very hip latin with out losing any of the original intent of the composers. A great voice, great songs and a great band make for great listening. I had the pleasure of working with Tony after hearing this CD and can affirm that he has Something to Say in performance as well as on record. I am looking forward to more musical adventures with Tony in the future.
