Nashville singer-songwriter, Tony Garcia, is releasing his debut CD entitled "This Road" on the bandd records label. This album, co-produced by Tony and Allen Morgan, is a collection of 10 original songs, including 3 collaborative efforts with Nashville songwriters Shawn Byrne, Robert Rivers and Robert High.
Originally from the Washington DC area, Tony emerged from the bars and clubs as a solo musician as well as a bandleader. Tony has travelled from coast to coast expanding his repertoire and experience, and at the same time playing to constantly growing audiences with his diverse style of Americana and acoustic rock-and-roll.
Songs from "This Road" are made up of a blend of acoustic and electric guitars and an occasional harmonica set to honest lyrics that use the metaphor of the road to describe the journey and circumstances of life's choices. Tony's music clearly is influenced by old style rock and roll, blues, and country and still sounds contemporary and fresh.
Tony is now based in Nashville and continues to perform regularly as a solo artist as well as a singer or guitar player in a variety of different bands in the area. Since arriving in Nashville, Tony's songs have been recorded by other Nashville artists such as Joel Alan Lehman ("Sportsman's Paradise"), Lynn Manderson ("In and Out of the Blues", "Blue in The Sun") and Alisha Ellis ("Somebody Else"). Tony was also featured on National Public Radio as one of Washington DC's premier songwriters.
In addition to working on his own material, Tony is also in demand as a co-writer as well as a session guitar player and back-up guitarist to other performers at live shows. Tony performs regularly at clubs throughout Nashville and other cities in the southeast.

smooth, great driving music

The CD starts strong with the upbeat sounds of a harmonica. From there, it remains the kind of steering wheel-tapping music that does wonders to one's mood while sitting in otherwise frustrating traffic. The songs describe the ubiquitous characters to which we can relate - we've either been there ourselves or know someone else who has.

This is a great first release. I especially enjoy "She's like a rose, Man" and "Flowers and Candy" -- if I had to pick a couple. Talent! I'll look forward to see Mr. Garcia out west! He'll do great with the San Francisco crowd.
