Album Notes

"God loves the people of New Orleans and gave music to the chosen few, I play my guitar in New Orleans and I'm gonna play the blues for you." T. Vegas

Tony Vegas is a professional guitarist/singer/song writer and a member of ASCAP since 1981.

This is a blues guitar CD representative of bluesy musical styles influenced by Freddy King, Jr. Walker, Eric Clapton, as well as many R&B, and Rock’n Roll artists.

The title song “Nawlins Renaissance” is my vision of New Orleans coming back because it has to. This CD was Recorded in New Orleans and the proceeds from this CD will be donated to New Orleans reovery efforts. Buy a CD - help the cause.

"When I first saw Tony Vegas he was playing with "The Green Card Band" at one of the top tourist spots in Panama City Beach. Tony would open the shows stating "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, we’re The Green Card Band here to make sure your property values plummet" -- That is kind of ironic since Tony is a very successful Real Estate broker in the area.

Tony was doing Latin renditions of just about every Beatle hit. Tony (Cuban born and raised) along with two (very Latin) percussionists was kicking all kinds of Latin grooves out to us -- Old Cuban standards, clever renditions, original material, a lot of Santana stuff, and then he'd play the blues.

When Tony plays the blues you know right where his heart is -- Tony tells a funny story about when he first heard Eric Clapton play Hideaway back in 1967 -- Man, it was the coolest, I learned every lick! Then I jammed with these old blues guys and I was really surprised that they knew Hideaway, I told them I picked that up from Eric Clapton, but they quickly told me that I was playing Freddy King! -- I went and got all his records."

THIS CD - Song list:

Nawlins Renaissance:
My vision of New Orleans- new orleans is a Special City with special people. The best is yet to come.

The Knife:
A love-and-got-hurt blues in A minor. Some of my hip music friends call it Latin Blues.

Tried to be a Star:
This danceable (so I’m told) piece has been featured in other projects and this is my best version. Very much influenced by Jr. Walker. Originally written and recorded in 1976.

When I Met You Baby:
A traditional 12 bar blues featuring the sweet sound of my 335.

I Can't Stop Thinking About You:
This is a fun song, true to genre, some cliché rip offs (Andy calls them quotes), lots of fun.

I’ll Play The Blues For You:
I’ve been playing this Albert King classic for years. Very cool groove, Latin Blues?????

Hideaway:
An aggressive guitar attack on my part. See write up above.

That's What They Call The Blues:
My personal entry in the “Best Blues” category -- A cool progression and killer tone from the JB pick up on my Schecter.

Big Fun (The Dynosaur Song):
OK, there’s a natural phenomenon that occurs when a guy is walking one way and a good looking girl passes him walking in the opposite direction setting the guy’s neck on an automatic twist. We can’t help it, it’s in our DNA! My research takes us back to the first dance ever on Planet Earth, A dinosaur dance! “When Dynosaurs go dancin’ don’t you know they’re gonna have big fun.”
Dynosaurs are DynOmite!
