Album Notes

tony vincent: past to present...

Billboard magazine has written about his strong mainstream-pop potential, and his voice has been described as "hauntingly hopeful". With Tony Vincent's new EP, "A Better Way", he is poised to bring his unique voice, award-winning songwriting and dramatic stage performance to a larger audience.

After starting an independent record label out of his college dorm room in Nashville, Vincent used college radio to help land him his first recording contract, recording two hit albums with EMI and three full years of touring.

Desiring a change of scenery that would challenge him musically, Vincent headed for New York City. The plan was to gain more experience to further his fledgling recording career. To his surprise, however, he found himself leaving the big apple almost as fast as he arrived, hitting the road once again—this time, with the national touring company of the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock opera, RENT. It was to become one of a string of musical theatre and film opportunities that were to temporarily frustrate Vincent's dream of a recording career over the next few years.

"I enjoyed the opportunity to perform live on stage 6 nights a week on Broadway and London's West End" whether it was as "Roger Davis" (RENT), "Judas Iscariot" (Jesus Christ Superstar) or "Galileo Figaro" (We Will Rock You)" because it allowed me to have my days free to spend time writing songs and focusing on my own music," says Vincent. "That's where I found real creative freedom and could remain grounded in the reasons I moved to New York in the first place. Being in the public eye each night also gave me an opportunity to work with some of the city's really strong writers and artists."

Over the past year, Tony Vincent made a huge decision to forgo any theatre opportunities and focus on his music once again without any distractions. Hooking up with hit producer (and former college mate) Adam Anders, the two began collaborating on new creative ideas and music. Almost immediately the two knew they had something special going on. As work progressed, and Anders became more in demand to produce projects for major labels, Vincent forged additional writing partnerships, including indie-songwriter Nate Campany. "The project really began to take shape as we wrote between my studio and Adam's. I felt like I was writing truly honest material for this project—stuff that I was proud of and that I wanted to share. I was singing in a more comfortable place, and I think that after listening to the end product, it will become obvious to the listener as well."

With the release of A Better Way, Tony Vincent is geared to fulfill what Billboard foreshadowed just a few years back and to not only wow audiences with a new kind of rock-influenced pop, but to give hope through his lyrics as well."

What a cracking album, love all the songs on it and the fact that its real music coupled with lyrics that actually mean something unlike some of the 'music' in the charts today, a quality which makes this the best album i've ever bought. Great work Tony.

Having seen Tony in WWRY several times in London and once in Las Vegas, I was afraid we wouldn't be hearing from him again! This CD was well worth the wait. Keep up the great work, Tony! Hoping to catch you live again and soon!

I fell in love with Tony's voice after hearing it on the WWRY soundtrack, and I immediately ordered this CD. The songs are amazing and the lyrics are beautiful and uplifting. Whether I am depressed or happy, this CD is the one I pick to listen to because of it's hopeful songs. Amazing job-can't wait for the next one!

Tony Chose "The BEST Way" to "A Better Way", My comments & opinion.

“A Better Way”, something that Tony Vincent has wanted to do for so very long and he has done it so beautifully from the depth of his heart and soul. However, listen people…”A Better Way”, is just a “tiny piece” of who the “real” Tony Vincent is… There is not anyone, I do not believe, that can fully capture from where Tony Vincent has come from, to where he is now. Tony so eloquently writes his bios that in-capture,"myself" as I am sure thousands of others. He writes beautiful biographical descriptions on most of his sites telling of high school and college how he got into RENT, his first production so quickly. However even those beautifully written words do not show the behind the scenes, the anguish, the sometimes pain I am sure, within Tony's mind as to where to go, which road to take. The road most followed or the road to "his heart". Theater, singing, should I go to London? All the "what if's, and should I's" that he has had to endure since those days in College and hitting the streets of NY City, and why was he there? He was there to sing! Not to become an actor and yet WOW, what a phenomenal Artist he is in both venues of the Arts! As long a road as it has been for Tony, as he writes above…I too believe he chose the “best road” for his career. For myself, he gave to me, the chance to see just one out of three wonderful productions, his first, RENT, in NY City. I am sure many of you have seen them all. Feel blessed that you have. I am blessed that I have seen RENT. I am blessed to have opportunity to know Tony the bit that I have over these long years. So people, commend Tony because he is not just an "awesome" songwriter, he is not just a wonderfully gifted singer. He is an actor as well and a man of integrity. Tony Vincent has weathered ALL the storms of this business called, "SHOW" and NOW is doing what he really loves most and doing it so well, writing from his loving heart, and singing those words to all of the world to enjoy and "hopefully" not just "listen to", but for all to learn from his words because they "DO" say something! Listen people, and listen hard. Tony is a wonderful man. Our world should have more "Tony Vincent’s" in it. Thanks Tony! I am sure your family is so very proud of you! I know…I am. God Bless you always, Marcy
