This CD takes you on a musical ride, ranging from southern rock, funky blues rock, swamp rock, americana and acoustic folk styles. Echoes of influences from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, Little Feat , ZZ Top, and Neil Young, ring throughout this album, displaying the versatility of this band. Blues, Boogie. Rock

Found Too Slim and the Taildraggers through You Tube.Looked on CD baby and tried the MP3 clips, which got me to buy.
This is a classic blues rock album, without a duff track. The title track and Motherload are quite ZZ Top style, and listening to other tracks you can hear other influences, but its always obviously got the Too Slim stamp. Different to some of the earlier CDs this shows a more rounded, superior band, comfortable recording some great material. A classic album if it gets out to the masses, a "sleeper" for those who know about it if not ( I got 4 others into Too Slim in a week, playing this).

Excellent Southern-flavored Rock CD
author: William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
"The Fortune Teller" by Too Slim and The Taildraggers is an excellent rock album with a flavorful southern flair. The songs tell stories and the guitars are big and raunchy. The sound has an instant listen-ability, and you will find yourself singing along to the well-layered choruses. These guys don't just stick to the basics though. Each song has its own unique identity, personality, and instrumental variance. All the while, the band still manages to adhere to a ‘signature sound’ throughout. Highlights include "Mexico," with its standout lead and backup vocals, and its interesting and innovative addition of steel drums. "She Gives Me Money" features a fantastic slide guitar riff and nice throaty vocals. "Spell On Me" has a catchy beat, more good slide guitar and a slithery feel. If you like Creedence Clearwater Revival and Stevie Ray Vaughan, you'll like this one.
