Album Notes

Neal A. Topliff grew up in a beautiful wooded area just north of Duluth, Minnesota. He began his musical journey at age five when his family introduced him to his first love, the piano. That journey continued as he learned how to play the violin, French Horn, English Handbells, acoustic and electric guitars.
In December of 1998, Neal Topliff composed and recorded his debut solo piano CD, First Love. First Love was the top selling solo piano CD for Page Music, Tennessee. The success of First Love enabled Neal to start his own recording and publishing company, Harbour Light Music.
In August of 2001 Neal released his second solo piano CD called Pictures under the Harbour Light Music label.
Neal released his highly requested Christmas CD on September 11, 2002. The CD is entitled Snow Angels - The Christmas Album.
Neal's music has been well received around the world and has been said to be "soothing" and "addictive" while being compared to top selling artists in the New Age genre of Music like Jim Brickman, Lorie Line, George Winston, Emile Pandolfi, David Lanz, Yanni, John Tesh and Michael Jones. When asked about being compared to these artists, Topliff said, "I think it is natural for people to categorize you, or try to put you into a frame of reference that they are familiar with. I am honored to be thought of in the same genre with any of these people but, in most of these cases I would say the only similarity between them and myself is that we all play the piano. I personally think my music has it's own style but if you made me pick one artist that it sounds like I would say Jim Brickman. While Lorie Line and I both live in Minnesota and like Yamaha pianos, she definitely dresses better than myself."
In addition to his solo piano works, Neal has composed music for various commercials, public service announcements and pilot television programs. He recently wrote the theme song for the nationally syndicated radio program, Postcards Home which is heard daily on several hundred radio stations across the United States. His music was featured on the 1999 Gold Award Winner, Nature Experience. The Gold Award was presented by NAPPA the country's largest consumer awards program for children's media and toys. His music has also been featured on Minnesota Public Radio's Morning Show, the PBS television show Venture North and The KARE 11 Morning Show with Pat Evans and Roxane Battle.
Neal met his wife, Beth while attending Hamline University and they spent their honeymoon at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing, MN. They fell in love with Red Wing and the picturesque scenery along the Mississippi River. Neal, Beth and their two sons moved to Red Wing in the fall of 2001 to make it their new home as well as the home base for Harbour Light Music.
