Album Notes

The brainchild and compositional baby of trumpeter Nic Chaffee, TopShelf is a hard-hitting modern funk band that is heavily influenced by classic funk, soul, and jazz.

The group consists of seven experienced and formally educated musicians including founding member. Chaffee founded TopShelf in the spring of 2003, and has been dedicated to bringing the finest in live musical entertainment to a wide palate of venues and locations. In the first year after its inception, TopShelf was a finalist in the nomination by Live Magazine's Orange County Music Awards in the "Best Live Band" category.

TopShelf has since performed extensively at many of Southern California's premier clubs and events, including: The Lava Lounge in Hollywood, Club Rain in Cost Mesa, The Temple Bar in Santa Monica, and The Barfly in Hollywood.

TopShelf's self-titled, self-produced studio album came out in October 2004. Clearly this is not your average rock band. The cohesiveness and dedication of every member, combined with passionate attention to detail makes TopShelf one solid unit. TopShelf has two musical goals. To play music that is fun for the audience to listen and dance to and for the members of the band to create challenging original music that is exciting to play.

Brace yourself!
