Tormentas is a Techno-House artist songwriter/singer. Tormentas is known for her rhythmic lyrics and catchy hooks. This Philadelphia native wrote her first song at the age of nine which was inspired by KRS-One's 1988 album "By All Means Necessary." She would listen to the album with her oldest brother as he explained the metaphors hidden in the lyrics. Since 2000 Tormentas has been writing non-stop. Tormentas is a Music Recording student at Philadelphia Community College and holds a degree in Digital Filmmaking from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
A self-taught songwriter Tormentas was raised around live and recorded music, television was a weekend event, if at all. "I remember being in the backyard with my father while he played his conga drums as he created songs for us to sing a long to. Everyday was like a new extravaganza. Music was the savior in my life. It help me through some of the most difficult times in my life."
Her father a professional percussionist and her mother a software engineer exposed her to funk, jazz and classical R&B. Her brothers opened her mind up to the philosophical world of hip-hop and gangster rap. Her older sister kept her in rhythm with the 80’s R&B style. Simultaneously her classmates broaden her horizon to pop and rock music. This was the starting point of Tormentases route into the musical universe. After exploring different genres of music Tormentas found her passion in the fast heavy electronic dance Techno style.
Tormentas is in the process of working on her new album that will consist of fun, upbeat, energetic and inspirational music. In the near future Tormentas will be working with several non-profit agencies to help promote autism awareness, peace, cultural and education.
