Album Notes

On November 5 2009 TorQ released its debut self-titled album on Bedoint Records. This recording features an eclectic mix of music reminiscent of a live TorQ performance. All the pieces on the CD are unique to TorQ: they were either written or arranged by TorQ members or were written specifically for TorQ by other contemporary Canadian composers. Featuring mallet quartets, dances, improvisations, African-inspired rhythms, a traditional gospel tune, a rememberence of John Wyre and even a hint of Frank Zappa,TorQ's new recording is more than just a percussion ensemble record - it's an example of some of the best and most innovative chamber music that Canada has to offer.
